H.E. Philip Edward “Brave” Davis, KC, MP, is a seasoned Bahamian leader, attorney, and advocate for sustainable development, economic resilience, and social equity. Currently serving as the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas since September 2021, Prime Minister Davis is widely recognized for his transformative leadership in national recovery, climate advocacy, and progressive governance.
As the nation’s head of government, Prime Minister Davis has placed climate justice and small island resilience at the forefront of his administration’s agenda. Representing one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable nations, he has emerged as a powerful global voice urging urgent action from major emitters and climate financiers to protect Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Under his leadership, The Bahamas has championed innovative solutions such as blue carbon markets, climate-smart infrastructure, and disaster risk financing, positioning the country as a model for sustainability in the Caribbean and beyond.
Prior to assuming the office of Prime Minister, Mr. Davis served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works and Urban Development (2012–2017), where he spearheaded key national infrastructure projects, including the modernization of public utilities, road networks, and social housing. His tenure was marked by an emphasis on inclusive development—ensuring that infrastructure growth translated into real, tangible improvements for Bahamian communities.
A respected legal professional, Mr. Davis is a King’s Counsel (KC) and former President of the Bahamas Bar Association. He is the founding partner of one of The Bahamas’ leading law firms, and has built a distinguished legal career centered on civil litigation, human rights, and constitutional law. His deep understanding of the rule of law continues to inform his governance approach—anchoring national development in transparency, accountability, and justice.
Throughout his political career, which spans more than 25 years, Prime Minister Davis has consistently prioritized education, social protection, and youth empowerment.
